SMS booking confirmation service launched for Webjet

Developed for Australia’s leading online travel agency, this new service allows customers to receive details of their confirmed booking, direct to their mobile phone via SMS, and has been requested by more than 20% of customers in the first week.

“Through the simple process of adding a mobile phone number when making bookings with Webjet, our customers have the option to receive their travel confirmation by free SMS as well as email, said Webjet Chief Executive Officer, Richard Noon. “We are already seeing take up rates in excess of 20% in the first week since the service launched”.

The SMS services for Webjet are delivered using MTT’s SMS Messaging Engine, a value-added module of the company’s intelligent mobile airline platform, m2plane.

On receipt of the request from a customer to receive an SMS confirmation, the Messaging Engine validates the details, intelligently re-purposes content from the email booking confirmation, and generates the SMS to the customer. The SMS contains the booking reference and flight number, airline, departure airport, time and date for the first flight in the customers’ itinerary.

The SMS facility is available to customers booking at www.webjet.com.au and www.webjet.co.nz.
